What CNY in Kuantan has done to me :D

okay, so this year.
in kuantan, we had a cooking competition among all the cousins.
the parents and people of the same rank relaxed while we cook.
well,
or rather while we tried to cook :D
the loving mothers couldn't bear to watch us ruin the kitchen so they did help.
anyway,
my brother and I were a team and our theme was : CHICKEN!
being the over semangat one,
we came up with five varieties @@

kicap chicken :)

chicken chop with sweet and sour sauce :) [there was another version with chicken sauce which yours trully forgot to snap a picture of]
steamed mushroom topped with minced chicken and mashed potatoes :D

andddd....
boiled chicken with thai styled tanghoon :)

this was what the table looked like after everyone placed their dishes :

it was delicious.
there were :
Team Brother and I.
chicken chop (sweet & sour and chicken sauce)
kicap chicken.
steamed mushrooms topped with minced chicken and mashed potatoes.
thai styled tanghoon with boiled chicken

Team Aunty Yu Hong :
Nasi Dagang!!
Fried Fish with sweet and sour sauce!

Team Aunty Yew Fong :
Egg Sushi!

Team Aunty Yew Lan :
5 season mixed vege!

Team Jiu Niang :
Sweet and Sour Pork
Salted Egg Chicken

Andddd! I also learnt to bake cookies, properly.
Potato Cookies made by mua :D
tadaaaaa!

haha, well.
my point is, somehow this has put me into a mood to try and cook.
and this is the product of my attempt at cooking dinner:D

Chicken with yummy sauce ( dunno what to call it :D )
Fried Lady's Fingers with tauchu
Xing Gong Taufu

hehe,
i know lah,
this post very syok sendiri.
once in a while ma.
Let's see how long this interest lasts.
:)

P/S: will post more if hardworking :D

When life brings you to your knees,

do you realize that you are in the perfect position to pray?
Well,
I'm currently in that time of a semester.
Where the assignment and tutorials keep on rolling in.
Endlessly.
And the degree of difficulty seems like too much to bear.
The research it demands.
The interviews that are pending.
The wait for people to reply,
All the while pleading that they would take the time to read the email.
The worries about things that are so non-existent
The drama presentation yet to come.
How?
So much to think about.
How to write the script?
How to make these people work?
How do i make them care?
And the midterms.
Taiwan is like my lifelong dream.
To actually go overseas, heavily sponsored.
But to think of the amount of things waiting for me to come back to.
Urgh.
So this is the time of the semester.
Just like the time i was worried about the business project.
And the English drama presentation.
And Madam Maizatul's presentation.
This time,
once again i'm driven to my knees with worry.
About the tenant issue disturbing my dad.
About mama's blood pressure.
About ah jo's stress for the exams.
and all the assignments and worry about marks.
with certain lecturers being scary.
Once again i find myself in the perfect position to pray.
And once again,
The Lord has the same reply.

" All will be well My Child. Believe that i am the Maker of Miracles. Believe that I can do the Impossible. You do your part and leave the difficult stuff to me. Pray and Believe. Rest in the faith that I will make things right"

And once again i'm leaving it into his Hands.
Pray people.
It has never failed.

Paper Stars

Sometimes i wish so hard that i could be the on giving you scholarship advice.
I wish so hard that i could be the one helping you through your interviews.
I wish so hard,
that things could be different.
So that i can stand a little taller in front of you when you tell me about your plans for the future.
I think that may be if i had worked that much harder.
If i had pushed myself that much further.
Slept that much less.
Than maybe, maybe i would not be in this state.
This applies to all three of you.
Jon, Fif and Mi.
I wish that i could have made you that much prouder of me.
Someone that you can look up to and turn to in this matter.
For now,
all i can do is to continue folding these stars.
Each one representing my love, hopes and dreams for you.
All of you are gonna be great.
You just don't know it yet.
So let me fold these pieces of paper.
One by one,
Wishing, hoping
that it would be enough.
4 days to go.
All the best my loves.

i am home (=
i still have some assignment stuff to settle.
but i'm home.
and that's all that matters.

sometimes,
you need to take a break and appreciate the things you have to live life like you should.
Warwick
University College London
MIT

these names are appearing more often on my friends' facebook pages.
Congrats buddies,
I wish you all the very best.
I will continue my fight here.
And be thankful for what i have.
I will take this as an opportunity for me to spend more time at home with my family.
no,
I am not comparing what i have with what you do.
I am just trying to look at it in a different light,
and understand His will.
May God bless :)
yay!
critical thinking exam was fine :)
i guess Jesus really does pamper me.
i can already hear Him saying,
"Don't take things for granted young lady! You must work hard than only Daddy can help".
yes boss! :))
anyway,
it was an awesome week at home,
ate,sleep,laughed,talked and laughed somemore.
pa was telling me about laughter yoga.
can u believe that our brain can't differentiate between fake and real laughter?
even if u are insincere about your laugh, you body would still produce endorphines anyway.
cool!
jo went for a trip to pd.
pray for his safety ya!
and ma,
like usual kena cucuk by me :)
i have a perfect family just in case you were wondering:)

anyway,
i was browsing through the pictures uploaded by my juniors on residential selection and kuittho.
kuitho is an English Proficiency program we hold for kids in Johor.
my,my,
i wonder where i got all the energy to pull through those days.
selection especially,
you'll wake up at 4 and sleep at 1 or 2 am.
in between u gotta juggle pampered kids who are not used to dicipline,
running around trying to get the teachers all the things they need including pens ==
getting everyone everywhere on time,
ensuring they are disciplined so that they understand what they are up for,
being a good role model with only 3 hours of sleep,
no hand phones in front of the newbies,
making sure they don't fall sick,
entertaining them between sessions with silly chatter,
putting up with their "royal highness attitudes"..

goodness,
it sure is good to be young :D

hey you,
i still remember my first experience with selection.
there was one extra thing i needed to juggle,
making you smile again.

and just before i close my eyes,
i thank the lord for this beautiful holiday..
i am well rested and ready to face the battle zone again.
for the comforts of home and company of a wonderful family,
is the best kind of therapy you can ever get.

i'm so happy at home..
with my family.
dun wanna go back la~~
aiseh
you how some memories just never go away?
like certain memories that haunt you no matter how you try to make them go away?
one of these memories was the day my little brother broke his little finger
he was so young, about 3 or 4.
and till this very day i still blame myself for it.
some nights i find myself crying when i think of it.

we were outside,
playing.
our neighbor had a bicycle.
i put my hand on the gear.
and my brother put his because he saw me doing it.
and my neighbor's son peddled.
and my brother started crying.
in pain
it was my fault because i saw him putting his hand in,
knowing there is danger.
but i didn't say a thing.
i just watched and it happened before anyone could react.

i am so so sorry.
i know writing this down won't change a thing,
won't erase his pain.
i guess its more for me.

i'm so sorry jon, i wish it was me instead.
and so,
i'm back in malacca for barely an hour..
and i miss home already :D
miss having pa,ma and jo around.
it doesn't matter where we are,
or what we're going through.
as long as we're together,
things will always always feel better.
lighter somehow.

nyeh...

anyway,
being back means i gotta get some serious work done.
goals and targets to achieve.
two week of hard work,
and i'll get one heavenly week of holidays!
work hard jessy!!

oh!
i was watching a video yesterday with my family
the one in the post above..
so cute rite?????!!!!
i can just watch it over and over without getting bored:)

okies,
class time people!
chao!
the world ain't pretty all the time.
it is ugly twisted and brutal at times.
it is filled with sorrow and bitterness
why let them rule?

look at the other miracles in life.
fill your walls and scrapbooks with happy pictures.

spend time with people that mean the world to you,
because they are your world.
love!laugh! sing! hug! be happy! go crazy!
life's too short to be predictable.
live every moment like it's your last..

listen to happy music.
sing along,spread the joy.
tell someone they are special and loved.

remember that at every end of a tunnel,
light awaits.
at every end of a thunderstorm,
a rainbow prevails.
things will be okay,
because He will make sure it does.
Just believe :)

have a wonderful day!

speaking of memories...

i have an excellent one..
for things that i want to remember,
at my own will of course.
and most of these things are happy memories,
memories that i treasure and intend not to forget.
but there are also those which has made me extremely upset, angry, hurt or scared.

memories to me are mostly controlled by what i'd imagine as a switch.
i'd on it when i like and off them when i don't.
but certain memories don't work that way,
they come back to haunt whether i like it or not.

anyway,
i was at my aunts house and my cousins were playing with a lego set which used to belong to me and my little brother,
and apparently,
the both of us ain't that little anymore.
but we sat down on the bed and joined them anyway.
and it was fun, extremely fun :)

i am one of those lucky girls,
who doesn't look at other families and wish i were a part of them.
i look at my family and i know that's right where i belong.
talking to my dad about economics, politics and faith and struggling to understand,
knowing he wouldn't mind if i asked a million questions.
watching movies online with my mum,
falling asleep on the chair as she waits for it to load,
teasing and having fun ith my brother,
feeling as we were 5 again...

i am one lucky girl,
and i'm thankful for that :)
have a nice week folks.

and now for a proper post

hello people!
i'm back! (As in back in melaka (-_-'')
and this weekend back home has been an,urm, eventful one i suppose.

1stly,
i got a shock of my life when i saw papa walking like that,
and an even bigger shock when i saw the wounds on his legs.
man,
i just hate seeing people i love get hurt.
sometimes i just wish all the pain would be inflicted on me instead.
do.not.like.seeing.them.in.pain.

*Jesus, pls take care of them okay? i promise i'll be extra good.deal?*

2ndly,
i got to drive around a lot.
mostly because i didn't want papa to strain his leg.
and it was actually rather hilarious,
to see the expression on my brother's face every time i said i'll drive.
he would go like..
*huh?!! u drive ah jie?*
haha, i'm not so bad a driver already right jo? :P

3rdly,
me and brother got new phones.
yeah,
they are the cheaper versions of the originals,
but who cares?
both of us are happy enough.
we were brought up to appreciate the intrinsic value instead of just the monetary value :)

4thly,
one must remind me not to watch Grey's Anatomy..
or any other hospital sorta shows anymore.
I was practically in tears after yesterday's episode.
I must have looked rather silly yesterday,
sitting in the dark, hugging my pillow with tears welling up in my eyes.
something about yesterday's episode just reminded me how very fragile life is.
How unexpected things can turn out to be,
how beautiful things can be,
yet how ugly and scary they can turn out.

something one of the characters said yesterday totally struck out on me,

*in med school, they teach us a zillion lessons on how to avoid death,
but not one lesson teaches us how to carry on living*

this is the main reason that kept me from pursuing medicine.
yeah,
i usually say its because its time consuming and doctors rarely have a life,i'm a family person and stuff...
but the truth is,
all those i can handle.

i just can't stand death and seeing people suffer.
i just can't.
i despise it.
i
fear it.
i fear it from the very core of my heart.

my biggest fear is death,
not the death of my own (yeah,i know this sounds selfish)
but the death of any one of my family members or loved ones.
i fear the permanent separation death would cause.
i may have the strength to get up again after every failure,
but this,
i may not have the courage to face.
my family is too big a part of me for me to let go.
My dad,mom and brother.
They are practically the reason of my existence and being.
i refuse to accept that one day,
that the day would come that we may no longer be together.
i cannot imagine what life may be without them.

every night when i pray,
i'll start with
"Dear God,please keep my family away from harm, danger, pain and separation"
those are the words that form on my lips.
but deep inside my heart,
i beg Him for more time with my family,
i tell Him i still have so much more to do for them.

I want them to live a pretty life,
I want to bring them traveling,
I want to offer the best things in life.

In order for me to be able to do that,
I need time.
More time.
And health,for them.

i know i sound melodramatic and all,
but the truth is,
I'm afraid that when i take things for granted,
that when I let my guard down,
and forget to pray,
The Lord may take someone away from me as a punishment..
a person that i love.

He wouldn't do that now would He?

Jesus,please don't.
~did i mention that i have adorable parents and a doting brother?~
oh how i am blessed!!

just for laughs :P

Pa,im so sure sure you're gonna laugh when you see this.
I hope Skype get better real soon.
i miss you guys :)

i had an awesome weekend =D
i watched Knight and Day with the family =)
i went out with two people that i miss a lot!
i got a digi number,which means i gt to save a lot.
And i'm happy=)

meeting you this time is different from the last.
i enjoyed your company
and i think,
i'm gonna miss you.

Take care =)

my house has 3 bedrooms..
one master bedroom,
one room for my little brother..
and one room for me!
we were very excited to move into our own rooms..
we picked out our own wardrobes and our own room lights..
the lights could be dimmed!
we cleaned our our rooms and unpacked our stuff..
we pulled home smelling bedsheets over our mattresses..
we were excited about being all grown up and sleeping in our own rooms!
after about two nights of being grown up,
i gathered my pillows and blanket,
turn off all the switches,
and lumbered over half asleep to my parents' room..
to find my brother already fast asleep there.
i'm 17 and still sleep with my parents =)
i remember..
once in high school..
a bunch of boys were sitting down, acting cool..
as i passed them i heard the biggest one say,
" who on earth i stupid enough to spend so much time talking to their family?"
the rest of the gang joined in laughing..
i turned back and said loudly to him,
"I guess i'm the stupid person"
he just gawked open mouthed at me,red as a tomato.
yeah!
just spent two hours on skype with my family yesterday night..
and two hours earlier this afternoon..
i bet there's gonna be another session tonight.

I am that person stupid enough to spend so much time talking to my family,
because i have a family who cares.
i pity that boy
